I offer copyediting and proofreading services for a wide variety of texts, from university and job application materials to web and magazine articles to book-length works of fiction or nonfiction. For examples of my editing style, see the following personal statement before and after editing.
I prefer to edit files electronically—either Word documents or typeset PDF files—but am open to editing hard copy if it better suits the client’s needs. Shipping charges will be factored into my invoice at the end of the editing process.
For short works (300–2,000 words) I use a flat-rate system ranging from $20–75 based on the word count. Please contact me for a rate quote. For longer pieces, I bill on an hourly basis, with a base rate of $25 per hour. I am happy to negotiate to fit your budgetary needs. Please send a sample chapter with your query so I can give you an accurate rate quote based on the projected length of time I will need to complete the task.

- I have worked as an editorial freelancer for such clients as UMass Press, Sheridan Journal Services, and AMC Books, and have experience editing professional monographs, medical journal articles, and trade nonfiction
- My current position at the MIT Press requires a fair amount of copyediting—I edited my first full-length book for the Press in spring 2017
